3 Part Technique - Hand fighting from the Butterfly is all about closing the distance without revealing opportunities for your opponent to gain his own controls. If possible, pummel for an underhook while blocking his chance for one and look for Over and Under Control. If he blocks you from gaining that underhook, settle for Collar and Elbow Control instead. In either case, both of your legs have jobs to perform while sweeping with the Hook Sweep from Butterfly. Your top leg lifts with it's butterfly hook and must keep upright so as to not buckle under his hip weight. Your bottom leg must post against the mat in the event that you need to adjust the elevation of the sweep when he posts against the reversal. If he posts his foot so far out so as to not let you push on his knee with your bottom foot, simply nudge his shin back so you can reach his knee again for the finish. Don't knock his leg out when you nudge his shin otherwise he will be able to recover.
