Instead, start small by grabbing hold of his wrist and invoking him to react. When he goes to remove your grip, immediately grasp anything closer to his core, e.g. Collar and Elbow. If he is quick to defend this new control, gain even more real estate by switching swiftly to an underhook with Over Under Control. At any point he hesitates to defend, throw yourself into the nearest stable control and execute the Hook Sweep from Butterfly.
