3 Part Technique - You may notice that your opponent is well versed in defending the Rear Naked Choke from the Back; this is where a superior knowledge of hand fighting from this position will come into play. As you fall to his escape side, secure the Seatbelt with a Kimura Grip, by grabbing his cross wrist with your choking hand and refastening the Seatbelt Control. Although you cannot immediately choke from here, this tight control will prevent his shoulder from escaping to the mat while your top hook can start working to trap his other arm. Trapping the arm with your hook is the goal here, since once it is attained, cinching in the choke is simply a matter of reverting back to 1on1 wrist control and digging under his chin with an unchecked hand. If you have trouble with the Arm Trap, go back to the 1on1 from the Kimura Grip Seatbelt and grab his same side wrist with your choking hand, then feeding it into a cross grip for Crossed Arms Control. Once you have this control, feeding the Arm Trap becomes trivial since the push is much closer than with the other hand. Another route to the Crossed Arms Control from Back is to pull the Kimura Grip Seatbelt up into his face, bringing his hand within range of the cross grip when he readjusts. If at any point you can't finish the traditional Rear Naked with a figure-four behind his head, try the one-armed approach by anchoring into his shoulder blade and pulling your forearm back into a straight choke.
