2 Part Technique - Escaping the Side Control is not easy. You let the opponent establish a dominant position, so now you will have to pay with hard work. Keep your feet off the mat to help prevent the mount and use a strong bridge to give space to retain guard. One of the most basic submissions from Closed Guard is the Guillotine. Fundamental and advanced guillotines shown by Marcelo will not include the opponent's arm because if the opponent has strong shoulders, it can be difficult to finish and you will waste valuable energy.
