3 Part Technique - Posture and stand to weaken the opponent's Closed Guard. Lean back, break the opponent's legs open with your arm, and kick back to release his ankle control. If the opponent attempts to flip back and stand with your foot, you will have a small window of opportunity to control his leg and repress his sweep. If the opponent controls your upper body to prevent your posture, use the connection to stand with him. Force his legs open by pressuring his hips down or inside his knee.

Thanks for the point, right at the end, about picking people up.

Thanks Marcelo, just started doing this upside down guard last week when I trained at your gym. This kinda gives me an idea on what to look for when people are escaping and a tactic to escapre from. Training with Paul and meeting you was great, your students was kind yet focused. Really enjoyed my stay when Project over I look to come back for a week or 2.
