3 Part Technique - In the first portion of the lesson, Marcelo has Henrique and Paul demonstrate what to do when you need to attack an opponent who is determined to keep himself inside your Closed Guard. Placing one hand behind yourself for support, while using the other hand to frame against his head, open your guard and drive your hips into him, rocking him from side to side. If he tries to suck you back down by taking away your post, escape your hip to the outside as you fight for inside control over his elbow and attack the Omoplata. Secondly, if he doesn't fall for reaching out to break down your post as you Hip Bump and he continues to squeeze your hips tightly, align your hip escape and frame escape in parallel with one another and force him to break his grip. Lastly, if your opponent tries to transition into Half Guard or pass to counter your Hip Bump, press his head away in the direction which corresponds to the Hip Escape into his arm for the Omoplata.
