Hey guys, as someone who trains at MGA full time, I thought I would comment on what some of you are saying. Marcelo is a big proponent of training hard. If anything, he is more likely to get mad at you if you train too easy, especially with him, than he is if you go hard. Matthew is a student of ours and has been nothing but nice and respectful to Marcelo and everyone else. He has good grappling and is an asset to our academy.

It's always a nice roll to watch between these two... very intense and technical match, and they're clearly not going 100%. Besides there´s other guys way more aggressive than this like a purple belt who always goes 100% and with poor technique.

This guy didn't "just show up to prove a point". He lives in NYC, and was training there regularly when I visited for two weeks during the summer. It was also during those two weeks that this video was filmed (I can see myself rolling in the background). It just so happens that during those two weeks (actually it was the last week I was there, the first week he was in Brazil) Marcelo was really stressing for us to roll hard; to give everything. "Jiu Jitsu makes you tired". Marcelo is the last person that would complain about someone rolling hard. Quite the opposite. That said, you guys should see Matt and Matheus roll. Talk about a clash of Egos lol.

All I have to say is that these guys are LUCKY that a Master like Marcelo gives them the time. Most Instructors and/or Master's don't even roll with anyone anymore. They have you do privates lesson's or you'll never roll with them at all. This way you a pay to get your A*S kicked by them period.
This is why I hate when people like this show up wanting to prove a point. There's NO need to try to beat Marcelo when he's actually trying to just help improve your game at no extra cost.

wow i could think of a lot of guys that would get pissed off with someone rolling like they had money to win but marcelo takes it in his stride... could you be assed rolling with someone like that every lesson though?? surely he gets injured a lot rolling at that sort of crazy pace!!!
