2 Part Technique - Overhook & Wrist Control can be a formidable set-up for many attacks from Closed or Butterfly Guard, but if your opponent is able to force the position to Half Guard, his underhook will trump your overhook if you lose his wrist. If this were to happen, keep hold of the wrist long enough to Bridge Escape and create enough space to pummel back your own underhook. Once your underhook is established, sweeping from the Half is simply a matter of either gaining Butterfly for the Hook Sweep or securing Underhook & Head Control for the Bridge Sweep. The lesson here is to develop an awareness for when to bump the opponent for an underhook before he can lock you down for a pass.
