Elbow Control Armbar from Butterfly, Sit Up Escape vs Side Control
2 Part Technique — Marcelo shows a neat, fast submission from Butterfly Guard that can catch your opponent off guard quite easily. While hand-fighting for grips, secure inside control over the opponent's elbow; when you are ready to close in with your hips, 'wax-off' with your hand and wrap around his arm, tucking his forearm/wrist under your armpit. As you fall back to the mat, scoot your hips forward and cross your shin in front of his chest to prevent him from shoving himself into your Closed Guard. If he knocks away your leg, recover back to your Butterfly Guard by performing the Sit-Up Escape with a Collar Tie.
