3 Part Lesson — Marcelo works out how to Take-the-Back with an Omoplata: [I] Note that unlike most set-ups for the Omoplata, Marcelo's version relies on a continuous breaking of the opponent's posture, all the way to the finish. Knead the opponent's elbow on your stomach as you place your feet on his hips to extend his arm, thus breaking his posture; you may need to hip escape away if he tries to close the distance back on his arm. Chop down on his shoulder with a straightened leg (not bent, e.g. Rubber Guard Style), swinging your body out from underneath and sitting up fast to claim his far shoulder for the tap. [II] If you encounter difficulty placing your second foot on the opponent's hip when squirming out his elbow, try hooking his far hip with your heel and dragging his back into the Seatbelt Position. Depending upon how fast you drag his back, the opponent will have his arm stuck behind his back in an Arm Trap. [III] If your opponent tries to defend the transition to his back from the Omoplata attempt, grab his defending hand and clamp down with your leg to catch him in a Double Arm Trap. If he happens to slip his first arm out during the transition, simply maintain the advantage of normal Back Control.
