2 Part Lesson — Marcelo demonstrates a new way to free your leg from the Single: [I] Avoid letting your opponent hold your leg above the knee while he or she is in on a Single. If your knee is free to rotate, you can keep distance with a stiff arm as you grip his back collar and turn away from the opponent to kick your leg out of his control. [II] If you cannot turn away or free your knee from his grips, turn back into him and grab both his obi (belt) and the outside of his pants to trip him laterally. Free your leg from his arms when he tries to catch himself from the fall.
