Jon asks Marcelo about their exchange in a recent roll: If you post on your opponent's belly with your hand to pass, keep your elbow slightly bent to avoid over-extending and also increase your agility. Extending your arms forces you to move your entire shoulder to follow the opponent's reactions rather than just your hand. If your opponent knocks you flat, immediately dedicate your feet to his hips, chest, shoulders, and arms. If you cannot place your feet on him, use your shins; if you can't use your shins, use your knees and frames. Your activity should resemble that of Spider Guard in nogi.
