3 Part Lesson — Marcelo troubleshoots the intricacies of his "Folding Pass": [I] Smack your opponent's knees to the far side as you land on his legs with your hips, smashing his guard into a fold. Windshield wipe your shin across your opponent's hooks to clear his guard and look to drive forward with Double Underhooks to establish the pass. [II] If your opponent manages to impede your charge with a Collar Tie framing against your neck and shoulder, look to either deflect it off or switch from the Double-Unders to a Modified Russian/Collar Tie aka "Horse Collar"; shrug off his frame by cross-gripping his wrist while seizing the back of his collar. Snap his back down to the mat and look to establish the Side Control with an Underhook if he tries to push you off. [III] Use the Collar Grip/Russian Tie to spin your opponent's Guard away from your body as you settle down into Side Control. This particular control is similar in use to that of the grips used to maintain Back Control without the Seatbelt in the gi.
