2-Part Lesson -- Marcelo follows-up a thwarted Hook-Sweep with a series of submission attacks: When applying a Hook-Sweep from Butterfly-Guard against and kneeling opponent, if they happen to regain control over their arm and post-out against your sweep, under-hook their leg on that same side and apply a cross-frame against their arm-pit to press them away into a Full X-Guard. Take their weight forward to force them to post onto their hands for balance and capture their near-side arm with your free-hand. Rock forward again to sit up off the mat, but this time releasing your X-Hooks in order to snatch their head and arm for a Triangle-Choke. Cross their arm over your hips and underneath a strong set of Collar-Ties to keep their posture broken down while you work to wriggle your legs into position for the choke. Hide their shoulder behind the lock of your Figure-4 and squeeze their deltoid into the side of their neck for the tap. [4:07] If your opponent is able to retain enough posture and keep their head high, cross their arm towards the opposite side and double-up control over it for an Omoplata Shoulder-Lock (Coil-Lock, Sankakugarami, et al.); configure your legs into a Fig.-4 around their upper-arm and use them to break your opponent's posture down to the mat. Sit up quickly and use both hands to snatch up control over their far-shoulder to prevent them from regaining posture again. Pinch your knees together and use your feet to push off the floor, elevating your hips behind their forearm and hyper-rotating their shoulder for the finish.
