3 Part Lesson — Marcelo defends the Single and retains the Back: [I] If your opponent manages to toss your lower body forward after you latch onto his Back with the Seatbelt, try to avoid getting your leg caught within reach of the Single Leg Takedown. Maintain the Seatbelt and Sprawl your leg forward away from his grip. Once clear of his hand, run around back behind his arm and either sink in your hooks or claim the Crucifix. [II] If you cannot force your opponent to let go with the Sprawl from the Seatbelt Control, quickly switch off to the Front Headlock and continue sprawling until your leg is free. Once he lets go, use the Front Headlock to pull his arm across, giving you a path to return to his Back for the Seatbelt. [III] It is important that during the entire fight in this situation, you do not bring your leg toward the opponent's arms. Your leg should be actively kicking away even when you switch your grips from the Seatbelt to the Front Headlock and back to the Seatbelt.
