2 Part Lesson — Marcelo skips the hand-fight when slippery: [I] If you cannot get ahold of your opponent's hands when setting up your pass because sweat is making it difficult to grip, omit this phase of your plan entirely and thrust directly into a mounted position. Depending on how things go, you may end up in Full Mount, ¾-Mount with your foot stuck, or Half Guard. Use Overhooks if closer to full mount to pull his arms away from your legs, but if you land in Half Mount, find an Underhook to connect to your next pass. [II] Launching from your base is dependent on the placement of your feet. If you have live-toes, it will be easier to raise your hips and aim your knees over the opponent's guard.
