Americana from Mount
4 Part Lesson — Paul masterfully explains the Full Mount Position and several Submission finishes for Self-Defense: [I]Paul explains how to make your Mount feel heavier than you physically appear. The technique focuses on understanding weight distribution and how to allocate different parts of your body for a Low-Mount. [II] Paul shows the standard variation of the Mount, as well as the High-Mount. Time is taken to develop an understanding about when to attack and how to tire out your opponent. [III] Paul tells his students how important it is to continually collect experience from the reactions of multiple types of training partner throughout your entire career in jiu-jitsu. [IV] Paul shows three basic attacks from the Mount Position; the Self-Defense Armbar, Taking-The-Back to Rear-Naked Choke, and the Americana Shoulderlock. Paul spends considerable time developing the ideas necessary for successful completion of the Americana; remember to utilize a barb-less hook (grapevine) when digging underneath the arm to avoid a possible reversal.
