3 Part Lesson — Marcelo expertly recovers his Seatbelt after an escape attempt: If your opponent pressures hard against your Seatbelt to break your grip, allow your hands to faze through and quickly reconnect your hands. If there is moderate pressure, don't try this technique otherwise you run the risk of your opponent finding your hands to begin an escape. If your opponent manages to find his shoulders to the mat after breaking your Seatbelt, find 1on1 Wrist Control on the bottom arm and look to throw your arm over top to fasten the 2on1 Seatbelt Control. Once you have this modified Seatbelt, you can manipulate your hooks to force the opponent back away from the escape-side. [04:40] If you cannot drag the opponent back to the Strong-Side of Back Control with the 2on1 Seatbelt, remove you hooks and go belly down to recover top position. If you need points, you can reset the hooks; but if you want to finish, force the opponent to face down and look for attacks from the Crucifix series. [09:07] If you cannot readily find 1on1 Wrist Control for the 2on1 Seatbelt Grip, perhaps because your opponent uses his or her arm to remove your bottom hook to escape, carefully dive under the opponent's head and apply a Power-Half (Nelson) to bring the opponent away from the escape. When you drag the opponent to the other side, release your grip and catch them back into Seatbelt before they chose to escape again.
