2 Part Lesson -- Marcelo safely chops down his opponent to take the back: If faced behind a larger opponent, opt to bring them down to the mat by jumping up with the Rear Waist Lock and kicking out their legs with your feet. The danger in this positions occurs when falling weight impacts the side of the standing opponent's knees; resulting in catastrophic injury. As long as you support your weight with the Back Body Lock and lean backwards, your weight will safely pull the opponent down. Place both soles of your feet directly behind the opponent's knee-pits above the calves. When you land, keep your legs extended on the opponent's to prevent them from bridging on top of you. Switch from the waist to the Seatbelt as soon as possible. [04:20] If your opponent is wise to the position and controls your hands to prevent you from switching to the Seatbelt, throw your hooks in to score with the Back Grab/Mount. If your opponent tries to defend against your hooks by reaching with his hands, this will free your arms up to fasten the Seatbelt.
