Knee Slide Pass vs Half Guard
2 Part Lesson -- Marcelo digs himself out of Single Leg Half Guard (10th Planet Quarter Guard): If your opponent isn't concerned about claiming an Underhook around your waist/torso, and instead is camping out underneath your knee holding onto your shin with Single Leg Control and locking his or her legs around your ankle, situate your weight on top of the guard and protect against a potential pummel for an Underhook. Using your free leg, hook behind the opponent's top leg and pry the ankles apart; pummel your toes over the bottom leg and slide your leg free from the ¼-Guard. Look to establish the top position or take the back when the opponent turns to his or her knees. [05:10] If your opponent is curling their bottom leg upward to prevent you from sliding your foot out to Side Control, use your far arm to pick up the top leg and create more space for your foot to slide through.
