2 Part Lesson -- Marcelo shows two ways of setting up a Guard-Pull from standing: If you can find 2on1 Control over your opponent's arm, you are free to sit directly into whichever style of open guard game you are comfortable playing; one could even play lying down on his or her back as long as the control is maintained. [03:22] If you cannot find the 2on1, opt for Collar & Elbow Control instead. However, you can no longer sit down directly in front of your opponent and begin playing guard; your opponent will have a better chance to attack your legs if you do this. Rather, fall directly into a Hook-Lift from Butterfly Guard. Keep your opponent unstable until you can collect together a more robust open guard to play from, e.g. X-Guard, 1LX, Goes-Guard, Cross-Guard, et al.
