2 Part Lesson -- Marcelo counters two straight ankle locks: If your opponent falls back with your foot without crossing it over his or her body, latch onto the sleeves, collar, or back of the neck to help sit up as you put the boot on. Work to free your hips from the opponent's shins so that you can pull yourself on top into the Mount. [04:13] If your opponent crosses your ankles to the opposite armpit before falling back, pull yourself close like before; rather than finishing on top in the mount, take the Knee-on-Belly Position instead. If your opponent starts kicking you away to make a transition, step on the arm trapping your foot and leap out of danger before things get worse.
