3 Part Lesson -- Marcelo protects his lead leg from the 50/50: Try your best to avoid the entanglement altogether by pulling your foot out of danger before your opponent can solidify the position. However, if you are trapped by your opponent's hips above your knee, press them down into a Leg-Drag type position; drive your caught-knee heavily downward to the mat. Make grips on the upper body and settle yourself until the hold loosens. You can also kick yourself free if need be as you cover the hips. [05:20] Focus on your opponent's knee; prevent them from using their leg to push you backwards. Use your free leg to help drive in the direction you need to bring your weight. [09:34] Practice specific training from the modified Leg-Drag position to gain experience keeping your weight down and your foot away from the side that forms the 50/50-Guard.
