On Youth Programs & Learning Jiu-Jitsu for Kids
Marcelo recalls his first class experience with martial arts: Educating children in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu can be a very rewarding and positive aspect of any school, but it is certainly not without its challenges; instructors must be able to give their students enough room and freedom to grow and have fun while still maintaining a structured and disciplined environment. Even a single technique can make the difference in a kid's life. When implemented correctly, a lesson can help them development confidence and the tools necessary for successfully navigating many aspects they will face on and off the mat. However, if a teaching is received poorly, its impact has the potential to deter them from ever coming back and trying again. Seeking a balance in these matters is not necessarily trivial, but the effort put forth in doing so is most definitely critical.
