Marcelo, Demian, Jon and Philzinho discuss the trials and tribulations inherent to figuring out which sides of their body correspond best to successfully executing certain attacks in both grappling and mixed martial arts competition: One can look to seek an advantage against most opponents by selectively working on getting good at whichever side on average is harder for your opponent to defend; e.g. passing toward one's right-hand side (your opponent's left) is oftentimes an easier feat to accomplish since most practitioners are more comfortable dealing with the opposite. Learning which side you should practice a move will sometimes depend on its context; a Double-Leg Takedown may work well in a pure-grappling environment, however that same maneuver may falter when tested as a combinational attack in the sport of MMA.
