Marcelo deals with an opponent who tries to roll out of danger from Turtle: Don't place your weight above your opponent's hips when they are turtled; this may slow them down some but at the cost of your own mobility. If they are bigger and stronger than you, oftentimes you can get carried away or thrown too far over top, eventually falling underneath and losing position. It is better to keep your hips away from your opponent's, and run towards their head if you are not ready to follow them into a roll. This way you can stay on top in Side Control and not wind up back underneath of them or inside their guard. However, if you can time them when they plan on rolling away, you can cut under their hip with your thigh and knee to prevent them from landing in a position to defend. Maintain your control with the Seat-Belt and under-cut their hip with your knee before it touches down on the far-side during the roll. Use your control over their bodyweight to help settle them down onto your Back-Hooks while still keeping hold of the Seat-Belt Control.
