Marcelo helps Kanan with the proper posture necessary for receiving top pressure while playing Butterfly-Guard: Whenever your opponent closes the distance to break you flat from a Seated Hooks-Guard position, you must meet their advanced with a bladed profile; turn your entire body (with the exception of your outside knee) against the direction your opponent is trying to drop you and in the direction of supporting your own Under-Hook. While keeping a high Under-Hook can be ideal, it cannot alone be the only thing that keeps your opponent from driving pressure forward. Make sure to tilt your shoulders and hips together with the Under-Hook to help mitigate any progress in favor of your opponent.
