Firefighter's Carry Take-Down, Head-Inside Single-Leg Take-Down
Advanced Lesson Part 2 of 2 -- Marcelo parlays a failed Fireman's into other take-downs: Surfacing above your opponent when attempting the Firemen's Carry is paramount to your success, especially when they are much larger or heavier than you; avoid getting stuck on bottom after you shoot underneath of your opponent, even if it means cutting out the back-door through their legs. The need for such a departure from the original throw will often come from a much taller opponent who manages to post out onto the mat while across your shoulders. However, if you find yourself in on the shot and your opponent rips their trapped arm away from your control, immediately convert your High-Crotch into a Snatch-Single. Remember to look facing inside to prevent your opponent from burying your head with a spike against an Outside-Single, or catching your neck into a Guillotine. Coming up with your opponent, whether with an Inside-Single, finishing Out-the-Backdoor, or even a standing up into a Fireman's Lift if you are strong, must be among your options when your opponent isn't readily thrown overhead.
