Back Escape from Turtle Position
Advanced Lesson Part 1 of 3 -- Marcelo notices and addresses gaps in overall technical ability: Prioritize defending your neck over letting your opponent secure Back-Mount, but still attempt to prevent them from setting their hooks; protect yourself from the dangers present from a choke by holding your opponent's arm while also keeping your elbow-knee connection tight in order to mitigate openings for your opponent when you are turtled up. Roll away from your opponent for a chance to end up on top but with your lower back on the floor. Tuck your chin while avoiding your opponent's hips; make a grip onto their bottom-leg pant and use it to help twist yourself on top. If your opponent decides to hunker down and hold you with their Seat-Belt as you turn, maintain the tension until your opponent gives up and releases their control.
