"This is how I approach jiu-jitsu."
Marcelo uses a piece of tape placed high above the class to explain his thoughts on approaching jiu-jitsu: Not enough competitors take full advantage of the start of a match; at the onset of a bout, one should take aim for a positive near future and reach as far as they can given their respective opposition. Set your expectations high and shoot for them early-on before your opponent has a chance to place obstacles in your way that will stifle your progress. One cannot predict the exact path to victory they will take to get the finish, but they should never allow for any doubts to begin arising once resistance is met. Continue striving towards a satisfactory conclusion using the familiar techniques you've cultivated from previous training sessions.
