Over Under Pass vs Half Guard
Marcelo shares a key detail for passing against a tight Quarter-Guard: When trying to clear your foot free from your opponent's legs with an Over/Under Pass (or Knee-Slide Pass), one cannot neglect even the placement of their toes; seek to slip your foot from in between your opponent's calves. Failing to orient your toes correctly will oftentimes help your opponent keep your foot locked down inside their Quarter-Guard (Half-Guard locked below the knee). Which direction you rotate your ankle is dependent upon the orientation of your opponent's scissors configuration; whether you their Figure-4 is closed inside or outside, you must direct your toes through the middle of their shins before attempting to kick your foot free.
