3 Part Technique - Develop sensitivity from the Front Headlock position for the Guillotine Choke by feeling out for space under your opponent's chin with your forearm. Once you sense a gap under his jawbone, jam your wrist into his throat and lock on the choke with the Seatbelt Grip. As you fall back to apply the finishing pressure, block his arm with your shin to clear the path for you to swing and shelf your elbow and/or leg on top of his shoulder, thus preventing him from escape. Use your heel to catch the edge of his far hip to prevent him from rolling onto his side to flee the choke. If you miss this opportunity to clamp down on his back with your leg, use it to catch him in half guard instead. If he pulls you on top into mount to try to avoid the tap, post one leg out to prevent him from rolling further and insert a hook inside his thigh to keep him flat on his back. Look for the finish with the elbow shelved on his shoulder, balancing on your feet and forehead on the mat.

Most people tap from the forearm into the trachea, which causes tremendous pain, but I have seen people go to sleep from the Marcelo guillotine. If your arm is a little deeper it certainly can be a blood choke too. I mean, you're crunching everything together, and if they can withstand the pain of the forearm to throat (they probably can't) they will go out at some point.

what is causing the choke? forearm and rib cage? or is it always a "straight" choke as MG puts it?
