2 Part Technique - The most common leglock counter while standing is to spin away and disengage from the pass. While this works, it is a wasted opportunity; instead of backing off, stay in range and high knee your leg out of danger. This will allow you to avoid the submission and still be close enough to engage with a pass. If you cannot step out of the hold, quickly backstep onto the hip of the leg that is being attacked. Positioning yourself this way allows you to protect your legs with a figure-four and also hand fight.
