2 Part Technique - Always, make the last move. If your opponent responds or initiates a technique, immediately reply back with an appropriate, aggressive action. For example, while inside of his opponent's Half Guard, Marcelo knows that his greatest chance of success at passing will be by attaining an underhook. If pummeling, he won't stop until his opponent concedes and he gets what he wants. If the opponent tries to buck you off from Side Control, don't settle or become complacent with his attempt; immediately counter back with a move to trump his move, in this case, Knee-On-Belly. The crux of the lesson can be summarized in terms of an analogy: If you consider jiu-jitsu as a debate, the principle here is to always get the last word in.
