3 Part Technique - In this lesson, Marcelo expounds upon even more details regarding the Leg Over to Reverse Half transition and the Back Step Pass: (a) If the opponent laces his Figure-4 in a manner that prevents you from turning his knee to the mat for the pass, simply preface your breaking kick with a short stomp to his posting foot. (b) If you happen to miss your chance to secure the top position with either an underhook, reverse underhook, or reverse overhook, stablize yourself by holding onto his Figure-4 with Toehold Control. While pulling on his Reverse Half, look for the opportunity to seize one of the upper body controls and finish the Back Step Pass. (c) If you are too late to grab his foot as he looks to escape or sweep, at least try to prevent him from taking your back by spinning inward with a grip on his same-side collar.
