2 Part Technique — The Seatbelt is a great riding control against the Turtle Position because it grants you the time to check out your opponent's body for weaknesses and opportunities for attack. If you don't notice the chance to attack his neck with a choke, insert your knee behind his elbow to open up his arm for the Crucifix. Using your knee to extend his arm away from his chest, catch his arm with your outside leg and lock up the Crucifix Position in a Figure-4 entanglement. Still holding the Seatbelt firmly, apply pressure for the tap from an Armbar by widening your base, sliding your Figure-4 toward the wrist (but not passed!), and thrust your hips down toward the mat. If your opponent is strong and inclined to dump you on your back despite the Crucifix being locked on, attack with the same Crucifix Armbar but raise your hips upward with a bridge. If he locks his hands together to defend the Armbar, pull with your Seatbelt as you push your shin into his far forearm to break the hold.
