3 Part Lesson — Marcelo teaches a class on passing the Half Guard when his opponent is particularly good at pummeling for his own underhook: [I] Keep your opponent as flat as possible to increase your angle of attack for your underhook. Once you thread your arm through, close the distance as soon as possible before your opponent has a chance to re-pummel. Secure Head & Arm Control and Pass with the Over/Under Pass (Nogi) aka Knee Slide Pass. [II] If your opponent happens to secure his own underhook, quickly settle for Underhook & Head Control on the opposite side! Next, raise your hips to cross your outside knee through to the other side for the Reverse Knee Slide Pass aka Cross Knee Pass. [III] If your opponent is holding you too tightly to cross your outside knee over his body, free your leg with the normal Knee Slide Pass and then quickly hop over to the other side before your opponent has a chance to take your back.
