2 Part Lesson — When your opponent has secured Side Control and he attempts to mount because he senses passivity, act accordingly by denying him the points: [I] As soon as he steps over, stretch your bottom leg and scoop up his ankle with your top leg, pulling him inside Closed Quarter Guard. Push his leg, pummel your underhook, switch your hips, and recover back your guard. [II] Make sure to turn onto your side, rather than laying flat, to scoop up the ankle for your guard. Also work to turn on the side that is easily available, not the side that you are structurally unable to obtain. If you pop your opponent with a bridge and he suprisingly mounts, push two hands on his leg into your Half Guard and recover back your guard for the sweep.
