Front Headlock vs Half Guard, Knee-On-Belly, Underhook/Head Control from Side Mount Position
2 Part Lesson — Marcelo demonstrates how to counter his opponent's ability to pull Half Guard from underneath the Front Headlock Position: [I] The first scenario involves the opponent sitting out for Half Guard on the side of his underhook; pinch the Head-n-Arm with the pressure of your elbows from the Front Headlock, sprawl away from the Single, and circle away from the Half Guard. Next, drop the opponent on his side, and when the gap presents itself, insert your knee on his stomach for Knee-On-Belly or the Side Control. [II] The same method is practiced against an opponent who is trying to pull guard from the side of his overhook or outside-tie, except in this case, emphasis is placed on base out quickly from the Knee-On-Belly position to avoid a recounter and promptly pummeling for an underhook.
