3 Part Lesson — Marcelo cleverly finds 1Leg X from Open Quarter Guard: [I] If you cannot alleviate the forward pressure of your opponent while he is stepping inside of your Butterfly Guard from standing, ward off his arms with wrist control and try kicking his far leg away before lifting up the Single in a Technical Lift. [II] If you fall back before kicking his rear leg, keep his knee from crossing your hip by blocking with your arms and kick him on top of you into Mount, but insert your near knee in between to position yourself for 1Leg X. [III] Pushing against his side with your hand will help take weight off of your belly when transitioning into the position. If he uses his foot to hook onto your leg while trying to go to 1Leg X, release the Single Leg Control and trade it for an Ankle Pick. Weave your foot from outside-in and snake around his leg from underneath to get to Single Leg X.
