3 Part Lesson — MG teaches 1Leg-X evasion and counterattack: [I] If you feel your opponent scoop underneath your leg while in Combat Base against his Butterfly Guard, avoid Single Leg X-Guard by raising your knee and stepping up out of his hook, or circling through the middle. Immediately follow up with an attack or pass after making the opponent miss his entry. [II] If you're standing, your opponent may opt to enter the 1Leg-X by hugging your leg and swinging under your shin with his Butterfly Hook. Again, raise your knee up and slide your foot away from his control. You may need to repeat the same evasion with your opposite leg if your opponent tries to catch you after the escape. Once more, follow up with an attack to catch your opponent off guard; this may manifest as a pass or control or force to Half.
