2 Part Lesson — Marcelo teaches two time-sensitive sweeps based on wrist control: [I] If you can hold your opponent's hands, you can take more as he defends by scooting forward for Double Underhooks; if he frames you, divert his arm into 2on1 Control and tilt him off to his posting side, hook-lifting him onto 1Leg X. You can pop the opponent off of his base and finish the sweep if you time your grip control carefully; before you're ready to sit up, snatch his wrist before he has a chance to break it to remove his post. [II] Whether you grip your opponent's wrists from above or below, keep your elbows tight against your sides. Once in Single Leg X-Guard, if he doesn't give you wrist control, underhook his ankle for Partial X-Guard and snap on a Collar Tie to come up for a sweep. Avoid the Triangle by removing your arm before establishing the top position.
