2 Part Lesson — Marcelo forces Half against DLR Guard: [I] If you realize that your lead leg is caught well by your opponent's grip while in DLR, you can grab his wrist from the inside and sprawl your leg free if he is controlling your lapel; if he's controlling your sleeve, you must stabilize with a counter-grip on his lapel. Be sure to grab and step over his other leg to prevent him from breaking your base. Once your ankle is free, grab his knee with both hands and vault over it, placing your self in Half Guard. Grip his lapel and side to close the distance for Over/Under Control and the Half Guard Pass. [II] If you can sit down on the opponent's free leg, use your hand to grab your opponent's lapel for base and break the DLR Grip in the same manner as before, but now, vault over the free leg into the opposite side Half Guard for the Half Guard Pass with Over/Under Control.
