3 Part Lesson — Marcelo use a combination of submissions on the Back: [I] If your opponent is only concerned with protecting his neck while Turtled, cinch his arm up in a 1on1 and begin work his other hand to either trap the Crucifix or help jam your knee inside his defenses. If you see his neck open at any point, swing your arm across his throat and stay tight if he rolls; anchor your choke with a grip on his shoulder and rock him on top of you to slip your 1on1 out for a two-handed squeeze. If your 1on1 is stuck, walk your legs back to North/South and crunch the opponent's head down onto your arm for the One-handed Straight Choke from N/S. [II] If you flip over while working the choke after you catch the Crucifix, continue squeezing with tight pressure until you can lock both hands or try attacking the arm with the Crucifix Armbar; configure your Figure-4 with your feet closer to his side and use the ball of your foot to raise your hips (gradually) for the tap. [III] To increase the height of your hips on the Armlock, bring your heel closer to your butt.
