3 Part Lesson — Marcelo passes Seated Butterfly Guard while kneeling: [I] If your opponent stays balled up and rigid to avoid letting you claim the inside space for an underhook and if he prevent you from grabbing his ankles to force a different guard, use a Collar-Tie & Knee-Tap to spin him with a Short X-Pass into Cross-Side Mount. Find his head to keep him close and try to establish the pin with an Underhook or Elbow-Scoop. [II] You can begin this pass by stepping up into Combat base to help drive forward with more weight behind your attack but beware of your opponent taking advantage of the space around your leg. [III] If your opponent posts his hand out to stop from falling down onto his side, immediately switch directions and drive forward with an underhook toward the opposite side. Once you land there, drive for a third time with your Live-Toes to catch the Underhook & Crossface for the pass into Side Control or to force the Half Guard.
