Double Overhook Control Short Hook Sweep from Butterfly
2 Part Lesson — Marcelo attempts a risky sweep against an opponent who is reluctant to engage while kneeling: [I] If you cannot find hand, wrist, elbow, or underhook control from Butterfly, open yourself up and reach out for Double Overhooks. Be quick to place your feet on his hips to avoid getting smashed flat with Underhooks if he chooses to reengage during your vulnerability. Clasp your hands together and look to kick out his knee for a Short Hook Sweep. Land on top in either Full or ¾ Mount to avoid giving up the Underhook in Half Guard. [II] If your opponent sprawls flat against the hook sweep leaving you over-extended, execute a series of small consecutive scoots until you can bend your knee and help lift him up for the Short Hook Sweep.
