2 Part Lesson — Paul demonstrates Fusegi-no-Uki-Gatame (Knee-On-Belly Escapes): [I] One can maneuver the opponent's weight so that it is loaded too far across your body and thus tippable to the opposite side. Scoot your hips underneath the opponent's shin and block the arm from posting. Keep your elbows held closely to your body so as to not allow for offensive opportunities. Bridge your hips up and over, guiding your opponent diagonally passed your far shoulder. [II] If you cannot readily attempt the first technique, you can form a C-cup grip against your opponent's angle while holding up the bridge, and then shove the opponent's leg into your Half Guard. You can use a Butterfly hook against the opponent's shin to help extend their leg if the knee doesn't drop inside of your guard.
