Escape vs Kimura Trap
2 Part Lesson -- Marcelo responds to the Kimura Trap: If your opponent counters your Single Leg Takedown by applying a Kimura-Grip (Gyaku-Udegarami) and executes Sumigaeshi, prepare to roll over onto your back but quickly shift your weight on top, similar to a Peterson pin in folkstyle (Omote-Uragatame), and then run to North/South (Kamishihogatame) where you can use your knee to break the hold. [04:09] Sometimes you can pass the guard to defend the Kimura/Sumi combination rather than rolling over. However, if you do roll, you must race to get on top first but still stay safe from the torque on your arm as well as the hooks from the back.
