2 Part Lesson -- Marcelo explains an important distinction between two similar variations of Half Guard Passing directly into Mount: Ratchet your Underhook until you've pinned your opponent's elbow against their head; you can latch onto your gi or grab your own elbow to secure the hold. Place the sole of your foot on top of their knee and stomp your leg out of the Half Guard. Make sure your weight stays closer to the side of your Crossface to avoid an immediate counter sweep/reversal. [05:52] If your opponent tries to defend against your stomping-style Half Guard Pass by raising their knees skyward, answer back by pummeling your shank/instep inside for a classical, Shin-Pry against their thigh to pass into the Mount Position.
