Taking the Back from Front Headlock > Knee Slide vs Guard Recovery from Turtle
2 Part Lesson -- Marcelo advocates drilling your Front Headlock transition to the Back: You need to learn strong movements from the Front Headlock Position based on the fact that you will end up arriving at the Sprawl Position on top quite often; sometimes, when losing Side Control or stopping a takedown. Clear your opponent's elbow across and quickly insert your knee inside as you spin around for the Seatbelt. Once fastened, you can use the Seatbelt to score points with hooks or catch the Crucifix Position. [06:05] Exercise the mechanics of the position until you feel strong throwing your opponent out of your way while running towards the back. Keep your legs clear of the opponent's guard recovery with a Knee Slide movement if your opponent sits onto a hip after you run to the back.
